Vanity (Illustration Friday Challenge)

VANITY is the theme for this weeks illustrationFriday.com/ Be sure to check out all the talent over there.

My idea about the word Vanity brings Peacocks to mind, if I was a Peacock (I know) I would be very vain. All that beautiful colour, fluff and feathers galore. A great character for a picture book too!

To stretch my illustration skills I will post my take on the theme each week HERE.

DONT FORGET TO SUBSCRIBE …….BE in the draw to win the pet portrait.

Drawn 15th May.

p3 (copy)I hope your week is full of beauty and colour.

Excellent drawing! I think peacocks would be rather vain also. They certainly have the beauty it takes.

  2. Alisa Belzil says:

Indeed! A wonderful example of vanity and playfulness. Vibrant!

  3. Kath, every illustration of yours I see shows a little more progress. You are awesome!

    • Susan the more practice I get the better, send me your ideas for your whale tale images. start with the first one…. When you are ready, I can do them in between. I need to draw everyday if I want to be at my best. Thanks for the support too.

“Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us.”

When I was a young child, my half-sister (ten years older) had a vanity table. Above it was a round mirror which was fanned by Peacock plumes! She did spend a lot of time there…
The Peacock’s colours are stunning and I do enjoy your work.

  8. Letizia says:

What a glorious, proud peacock! I used to take walks in a park that had them and they would prance around the females with such pride, haha!

  11. Wouldn’t you have to be male to get all that beautiful peacock stuff?

  12. Peacocks are allowed to be vain. As for people…we have attitude!

  13. I love your peacock!! Just stunning. I can’t draw for toffee as the saying goes! 😊

  14. Beautiful drawing Kath, peacocks are extremely beautiful, though I remember my mother was always very superstitious about them – wouldn’t have a peacock feather in the house.
