All We Have is NOW

DSCN8441 (copy)

Today I had a huge decision to make, a free day to catch up on either the domestics, due to family arriving this weekend or follow a vibe that I needed to paint.

As you would have worked out by the above painting  my house is still in chaos. But I could not resist turning up the music and following the muse. I have not dragged my paint box out in a long, long time due to my passion for using pencils mostly.

I guess the painting reminds me of Spring and the changing seasons give me the energy to declutter. It didn’t happen today but I’m glad I followed my heart and created this little fellow. I have sketched him before and thought he would look good in paint as well.

I have been revisiting old art to see how far I have come and sketched this crow again too. I guess tomorrow I will behave and get the house in order.

BUT I don’t feel guilty at all, seize the day People.DSCN8436 (copy) My next creative opportunity will be Thursday, thats picture book illustration day. If we don’t grab the moments when they become available, they vanish quick enough.

Whether you are heading into Autumn or Spring I hope life is inspiring you to create. I know nature will never stop amazing me.

Enjoy the NOW, go for it! Create Create Create.

About Minuscule Moments

Everybody has a DREAM. Today is the first day of the rest of my writing life. Its a lonely world out there when you are learning the craft. This year, as the same as last year, I want to finish my first children's picture book. I have learn't many wonderful lessons on this journey. You are never too old to learn.

I love him, he turned out so great! Love the detail in his eye and around his face 💙

  2. diannegray says:

‘Enjoy the NOW’ is wonderful, Kath! The picture is amazing. You are so talented xxx

  3. Tana Bevan says:

Kath~The more you embrace your rich “Nows,” the richer and fuller your life. While it’s nice keeping one’s abode down to a dull roar, can’t imagine being on my deathbed lamenting the fact I didn’t clean enough. Kudos to you for pursuing your passion! (I particularly like the strokes you used on the bird’s neck. When I unfocus my eyes, I can almost see an image within an image.) Clapping and cheering your efforts!

  4. Wise words, Kath. As we grow older, it bears reminding that we must seize those creative days that beckon with promise and to grab those ‘minuscule moments’ whenever and wherever we can. The domestic duties simply have to wait. 😀
Love your vibrant paint colours! 💜💙❤️💚💛

  5. Fantastic! You are so clever .. Adore the crow, handsome chap! Seize the day 😄

  6. Kath, seeing your beautiful artwork inspires me to make time to create. Thank you for reminding us to just do it.
    Blessings ~ Wendy

You have your priorities just right, in my opinion:)

  8. Val Boyko says:

Yes!!! The creative urge and that intuitive calling is always worth listening to Kath! Enjoy the next surge of inspiration … As well as your visitors 💕

  9. Luanne says:

I’m going to try to let you inspire me to seize the day. I really need that advice right now!

  10. Bun Karyudo says:

Follow your muse. The socks can be washed some other day.

  11. Elizabeth says:

Hi Kath, love that you followed your muse instead of taking care of the house. Beautiful blue bird. Happy Spring to you. Well, I’m cleaning up my blog, so deleting lots of people I follow, it’s easier to delete everyone and them follow back the important ones. So don’t be surprised when you see I’m following you again! 🙂

  12. Your art work shows your spirit. And your commitment to seizing the day. I’d MUCH prefer to sit at my desk and write/create, then clean for soon-to-arrive house guests. Always! 🙂

  13. candidkay says:

My muse is like yours–she does not wait well for housecleaning or other mundane endeavors:).

  14. Rowena says:

Love these…especially that crow…such personality! Really love it!
It is a pet hate of mine that women are still judged by the state of their homes and that cleanliness is next to Godliness while creative output and being able to think is glossed over!! Why is it that its so important to get through that never ending cycle of menial jobs? Haven’t we reinvented ourselves by now?
Anyway, I wanted to let you know that I’ve nominated you for the three day quote challenge but don’t feel pressured because I know how busy you are. I wanted to choose a few visual blogs and couldn’t bypass you. You’ll love the quote and the story behind it, by the way. It comes from the paralympics and it really touched me.https://beyondtheflow.wordpress.com/2016/10/04/a-visionary-photographer-three-day-quote-challenge/
Hope the holidays are going well. Kids are having three surf lessons this week. I wish it was me!
    xx Ro

    • Thanks Rowena I will try and read it soon. I sold the crow at the markets with another crow sketch the other day. Makes me happy to know others enjoy my scratchings. Where did I just read a quote about an author who has a clean house has an unfinished novel…so true.

  15. Sheila says:

Wow – it feels like I could reach out and pet him and that he might turn and squawk at me if I did! Your artwork is so amazing. I’ve missed you during my disappearance, but I was trying to follow your advice by going off to create. I hope you’ve been doing that as much as possible too!

  16. Jill Kuhn says:

Your peacock is as stunning as this bird’s colors! Bravo Kath!! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 And I’m so glad you created instead of cleaning house! 😍🎨👍
